A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
The University of Akron women’s swimming and diving team as the
2026 Mid-American Conference Champion.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to congratulate The University of Akron women’s swimming
and diving team on winning the 2026 Mid‑American Conference
Championship; and

WHEREAS,
A remarkable group of young athletes, the members of The University
of Akron women’s swimming and diving team have combined talent and
spirit with the highest ideals of good sportsmanship to establish
themselves as truly exceptional competitors. With admirable
dedication, the Zips have worked diligently toward attaining ultimate
proficiency in their sport, and as a result, they compiled 771 points
to win this year’s Mid-American Conference Championship, their
fifth consecutive MAC crown and twelfth such title in thirteen years;
and

WHEREAS,
The Zips’ achievements and leadership are a justifiable source of
pride and an excellent reflection on the members, their families,
their school, the Akron community, and their coaches. In leading
their team to victory, the coaches have not only helped the athletes
to develop their talents to the fullest but have also instilled in
them a valuable sense of determination, perseverance, and
camaraderie; and

WHEREAS,
With athletic competition playing such an important role in the total
education of our young people, we are extremely pleased to pay
tribute to these exemplary athletes and their outstanding coaches for
a job well done. The maturity and experience the team members have
gained through their participation in sports will greatly aid them in
meeting the challenges of the future; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend The University of Akron
women’s swimming and diving team on its tremendous season and
salute the members and coaches as fine citizens; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to The University of Akron women’s swimming and
diving team.
