A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Jake Hughes on securing a 2026 Division II State Wrestling
Championship title.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to extend special recognition to Jake Hughes as the 2026
Division II State Wrestling Champion in the 157-pound weight class;
and

WHEREAS,
Jake Hughes is deserving of this prestigious title, a tribute to the
remarkable athletic gifts and indomitable spirit that he has so amply
displayed as a sophomore member of the Beaver Local High School
wrestling team. A tenacious competitor, he could always be counted on
to shine, and understandably, the strength, agility, stamina, and
skill that he has exhibited have earned him many admirers; and

WHEREAS,
Jake Hughes has conscientiously applied himself to the quest for
excellence as an athlete, training and practicing diligently in order
to ensure peak conditioning. Time and again, he has risen to the
occasion, maintaining his morale, composure, and good sportsmanship,
and he has gained the respect of even his most determined rivals.
Clearly, his enthusiastic involvement in athletics has enabled him to
learn much about dedication, self-discipline, and leadership, and in
the process, he has set a fine example that is sure to inspire future
generations of wrestlers; and

WHEREAS,
Wrestling is a demanding sport that requires exceptional strength,
stamina, and natural ability, and Jake Hughes is to be commended for
his exemplary performance at this year’s Division II State Meet,
where he defeated a tough opponent from Bishop Watterson 2-1 to
secure the crown and finish the season with a 45-4 record. Throughout
extensive practice and preparation, he has developed into a dynamic
competitor, and it is our hope that he will take the lessons learned
from this triumph and apply them well as he pursues his goals in the
years ahead; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to Jake Hughes on his
tremendous athletic achievement and honor him on an outstanding
season; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Jake Hughes.
