A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Matt Oyster for outstanding service to the State of Ohio.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to extend special recognition to Matt Oyster for three years
of loyal service to the Ohio Senate; and

WHEREAS,
Matt Oyster is a remarkable individual, for he has combined civic
concern and dedication with selfless initiative to become a dynamic
member of the Ohio Senate staff. Commencing his tenure in March of
2023, he has ably served as chief legal counsel, bringing a full
measure of enthusiasm, intelligence, and public spirit to his duties;
and

WHEREAS,
Over the years, Matt Oyster has given generously of his time, energy,
and abilities to assist the Ohio Senate and has demonstrated a
praiseworthy commitment to the success of state government. He has
provided a valuable service by helping to maintain the efficiency and
effectiveness of the legislative process, including, but not limited
to, an impressive and seemingly unending knowledge of the Ohio
Revised Code, and its citations, and an uncanny ability to dissect
the minutiae of any legal issue; and

WHEREAS,
Matt Oyster’s sanguine, assured, and amiable affectation has
brought joy to many at the Ohio Senate, whether in meetings or over
lunch breaks, and his infectious and booming laugh will be forever
remembered;

WHEREAS,
Matt Oyster’s contributions to the Ohio Senate have been greatly
appreciated by all those who have had the pleasure of working with
him. He has displayed exceptional devotion, responsibility, and
enthusiasm in his endeavors, including his inclination for rigorous,
well-reasoned legal debate—using his intellect as a sword and a
shield upon which his fellow legal staff could test their mettle; and

WHEREAS,
we extend best wishes to Matt; his wife, Kate; and their children,
Emory and Blair, for the years to come; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Matt Oyster on his
exemplary state service and salute him as one of Ohio’s finest
citizens, and we thank you, Matt Oyster, for being more than a
trusted confidant and counsel—we thank you for being a friend. You
shall be missed; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Matt Oyster.
