A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
the Fairmont High School girls basketball team on winning the 2026
Division I State Championship.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to commend the Fairmont High School girls basketball team as
the 2026 Division I State Champion; and

WHEREAS,
The Fairmont High School girls basketball team has proven to be a
talented and superbly conditioned squad and has gained the respect of
fans and opponents alike for the spirited and highly motivated
performance of its members. Throughout the season, the group worked
diligently to improve their skills on the court, and as a result, the
Firebirds accomplished their goals, bringing home this year’s state
championship with a 61-55 win over a tough Princeton squad; and

WHEREAS,
Known as a driven and determined team, the Fairmont Firebirds have
developed into a remarkably efficient group of players whose skill is
equaled only by their exemplary display of teamwork. They are a
credit not only to their families and their school but also to the
superb leadership of their coach, Jeremey Finn; and

WHEREAS,
The road to victory is a difficult one, requiring ability, endurance,
and a positive attitude on the part of athletes and coaches alike.
The members of the Fairmont High School girls basketball team have
exemplified the characteristics that are essential for success both
in and out of competition, including courage, discipline, integrity,
and good sportsmanship, and their efforts have earned them the
admiration of all those who have witnessed these outstanding athletes
in action; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, salute the Fairmont High School
girls basketball team on its 2026 Division I State Championship and
offer best wishes for the years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to the Fairmont High School girls basketball team.
