A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Natalia Botello on winning the 2026 NCAA Women’s Saber
Championship.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to applaud Natalia Botello as the 2026 NCAA Champion in the
women's saber event; and

WHEREAS,
A standout for The Ohio State University women's fencing team,
Natalia Botello can always be counted on not only to shine
individually but also to contribute significantly to the teams'
collective effort. Indeed, she has inspired her teammates, thrilled
her fans, and gained the respect of her opponents, and she made her
coaches and family very proud by becoming the first Buckeye to secure
an NCAA Women's Saber Championship crown as well as the fourth
individual national champion in the history of the program; and

WHEREAS,
Displaying exceptional form, ability, and commitment during the 2026
season, Natalia Botello has certainly distinguished herself as one of
the most talented fencers in the country. Through her participation
in athletics, she has learned much about dedication, self-discipline,
and leadership, and it is our hope that her example will serve as an
inspiration for others; and

WHEREAS,
With sports playing such an important part in the development of our
young people, we are overjoyed to pay tribute to such a remarkable
athlete as Natalia Botello. Thanks to her talents and her ambition to
succeed, she has established a tremendous record of achievement, and
it is no surprise that she has won so many admirers; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Natalia Botello on her
NCAA championship and look with optimism to her bright, promising
future; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Natalia Botello.
