A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Melissa Kowalski as the recipient of the 2026 NSTA Shell Science
Teaching Award.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to congratulate Melissa Kowalski on being presented with the
2026 Shell Science Teaching Award by the National Science Teaching
Association; and

WHEREAS,
Melissa Kowalski is, indeed, worthy of acknowledgement, for
throughout her career in the field of education, she has brought
insight, expertise, and ability to the important work of guiding
young minds. A seventh- to twelfth-grade science teacher with
Put-in-Bay Schools, she has encouraged many youngsters to develop
their knowledge and interests and has instilled within them an
appreciation of the importance of education that will benefit them
throughout their lives; and

WHEREAS,
Over the years, Melissa Kowalski has not only taught many students
but has also established a solid foundation for succeeding
generations. Her unstinting contributions of time, talent, and
seemingly inexhaustible energy have gained her the esteem of her
peers and the appreciation of everyone with whom she has been
associated, and her work stands as the hallmark of concerned and
responsible citizenship; and

WHEREAS,
This Shell Science Teaching Award is a justifiable source of pride
and an excellent reflection not only on Melissa Kowalski but also on
her family, her school, and her community. She have striven to
fulfill her myriad goals in a competent and responsible manner, and
it is through the unceasing work of people such as she that Ohio has
gained a reputation as a state whose educators are committed to
upholding the highest standards of quality; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Melissa Kowalski on her
national honor and extend best wishes for ongoing success; and be it
further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Melissa Kowalski.
