Honoring
Matthew Schuler on his retirement.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to congratulate Matthew Schuler on retiring as the executive
director of the Ohio Casino Commission; and

WHEREAS,
Matt Schuler is, indeed, a remarkable individual, for he has combined
civic concern and commitment with selfless initiative to become a
widely respected public servant. Commencing his tenure in state
government as a page for the Ohio Senate while studying political
science at The Ohio State University, he advanced to become a
legislative aide for the chair of the Senate Finance Committee, and
after a brief term in the private sector as the director of public
policy services for the Ohio Manufacturers Association, he returned
to the Ohio Statehouse, serving as the clerk and then chief of staff
of the Senate before being named the first executive director for the
Ohio Casino Control Commission, a position he has held for fifteen
years; and

WHEREAS,
Throughout his career, Matt Schuler has clearly shown the potential
of each person to have a positive effect on the quality of life in
our society. He has been a leader, friend, and mentor to all who have
worked with him. Always sincere and energetic in his approach to his
work, he has distinguished himself as a conscientious and responsible
Ohioan of the highest integrity, and he is truly deserving of high
praise; and

WHEREAS,
Matt Schuler has served not only as a public servant but also as a
loving husband to his wife, Jill, and father to his four children,
Noah, Hannah, Sophie, and Nick; and

WHEREAS,
We are proud to note that it is through the unsurpassed efforts and
deep commitment of conscientious people such as Matt Schuler that the
State of Ohio continues to prosper. Over the years, he has striven to
serve his fellow citizens to the best of his ability, and we applaud
him for his fine efforts; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend Matthew Schuler on the
occasion of his retirement and extend best wishes for his and his
family's health and happiness in the years to come; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Matthew Schuler.
