Honoring
the Ohio Alliance of YMCAs on the One Hundred Seventy-fifth
Anniversary of the YMCA.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to commend the Ohio Alliance of YMCAs on its observance of
the One Hundred Seventy-fifth Anniversary of the YMCA; and WHEREAS,
Founded in the United States by Thomas Valentine Sullivan in 1851,
the Young Men's Christian Association was inspired by the YMCA
movement in England, and in the decades since, it has grown to become
one of the most respected nonprofits in the nation. By offering a
variety of family‑oriented programming, including swim lessons,
childcare, and afterschool programs, the organization has gained the
appreciation of many, and it is fitting that its mission continues to
be perpetuated through the efforts of state affiliates such as the
Ohio Alliance of YMCAs; and WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Ohio
Alliance of YMCAs has worked diligently to uphold the goals of the
Young Men's Christian Association and to celebrate the principles
upon which it was founded, and it has achieved a praiseworthy record
of service to the state. Indeed, the organization has engaged in an
array of worthwhile activities and projects that have met a number of
needs, and its accomplishments are a justifiable source of pride and
an outstanding reflection not only on the alliance itself but also on
its hard‑working staff and volunteers and on the communities it
serves; and WHEREAS, Truly, the Ohio Alliance of YMCAs has enhanced
the quality of life in our society, and this noteworthy agency is
deserving of high praise. We are certain that as it maintains its
unfaltering dedication to service and achievement, it will continue
in the tradition of excellence that has long been the hallmark of the
Young Men's Christian Association; therefore be it RESOLVED, That we,
the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio, in
adopting this Resolution, applaud the Ohio Alliance of YMCAs on the
celebration of the One Hundred Seventy-fifth Anniversary of the YMCA
and extend best wishes for ongoing success; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated
copy of this Resolution to the Ohio Alliance of YMCAs.
