A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Jackson Hughes on winning the 2026 Division II State Long Jump
Championship.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to recognize Jackson Hughes as the 2026 Division II State
Track and Field Champion in the long jump; and

WHEREAS,
Displaying exceptional form, ability, leadership, and dedication
during the 2026 season, Jackson Hughes certainly distinguished
himself as one of the most talented athletes in Ohio. At this year's
Division II State Meet, he won the long jump event with a leap of 23
feet, 5.5 inches, and he is worthy of acknowledgement; and

WHEREAS,
Throughout intense training and preparation, Jackson Hughes has
consistently demonstrated the talent, integrity, and motivation that
are the hallmarks of a true champion. A standout on the Avon High
School track and field team, he has inspired his teammates, thrilled
his fans, gained the respect of his opponents, and made his coaches,
family, and community proud; and

WHEREAS,
In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and
nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of
individual effort, athletic competition has become a valuable
educational tool. Clearly, Jackson Hughes has learned much about
excellence as an athlete, and he has made a significant impact on
high school track and field in our state; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, pay tribute to Jackson Hughes on
his track and field success and offer best wishes for the years
ahead; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Jackson Hughes.
