A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Madison Henkel as the 2026 Division III State Champion in the long
jump.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to applaud Madison Henkel on winning first place in the long
jump at the 2026 Division III State Track and Field Meet; and

WHEREAS,
Madison Henkel is deserving of this prestigious title, a tribute to
the remarkable athletic gifts and indomitable spirit that she has so
amply displayed as a senior member of the Shelby High School girls
track and field team and a two-time state champion. A tenacious
competitor, she placed first in the long jump with a leap of 19 feet,
11.5 inches at this year's Division III State Track and Field Meet,
and not only secured her second consecutive title but also broke the
Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium record. Understandably, the strength,
agility, stamina, and skill that she has exhibited have earned her
many admirers; and

WHEREAS,
Madison Henkel has meticulously applied herself to the quest for
excellence as an athlete, training diligently in preparation for her
return to the state championship. Indeed, she has overcome every
challenge she has faced, maintaining her morale, composure, and good
sportsmanship, and she has gained the esteem of all those who have
followed her athletic journey; and

WHEREAS,
Madison Henkel's enthusiastic involvement in track and field has
enabled her to learn much about dedication, self-discipline, and
leadership, and in the process, her exceptional prowess has set a
fine example that is sure to inspire future generations of athletes.
Throughout extensive practice and preparation, she has developed into
a dynamic competitor, and it is our hope that she will take the
lessons learned from these triumphs and apply them well as she
pursues her goals in the years ahead; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, salute Madison Henkel on her
tremendous athletic achievement and commend her on an outstanding
season; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Madison Henkel.
