Honoring
the Toledo Museum of Art on its One Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to commend the Toledo Museum of Art on its One Hundred
Twenty-fifth Anniversary; and

WHEREAS,
Recognition of this prestigious milestone is, indeed, a fitting
tribute to the Toledo Museum of Art, for it has made many significant
contributions to the exhibition and preservation of Ohio's cultural
assets. Established in 1901 by Edward Libbey and a small group of
charter members to promote art appreciation and highlight the skills
of local craftsmen, the museum has grown to house more than 30,000
pieces in architecturally significant buildings on a
thirty-seven-acre campus while remaining free and open to the public,
and it has twice been voted the best Art Museum in the United States
in the USA TODAY 10 Best Readers' Choice Awards; and

WHEREAS,
Since its inception, the Toledo Museum of Art has striven to maintain
and sustain the creative history of our state, nation, and world.
This exemplary institution is held in high esteem for the many
occasions on which it has been active in the promotion of the arts,
far beyond what was required or expected; and

WHEREAS,
The arts are invaluable for the development of the human spirit and
provide a common ground for all people, never ceasing to renew,
illuminate, educate, and entertain. In a time of increased emphasis
on industry, science, and technology, it is reassuring to note that
our country's strong artistic heritage is being perpetuated and
advanced through the efforts of concerned organizations such as the
Toledo Museum of Art; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate the Toledo Museum of
Art on its One Hundred Twenty-fifth Anniversary and offer best wishes
for ongoing success; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to the Toledo Museum of Art.
