A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
the Ohio Department of Agriculture during March 2025 as National
Agriculture Month.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to salute the Ohio Department of Agriculture on the
auspicious occasion of its observance of National Agriculture Month,
March 2025; and

WHEREAS,
The Ohio Department of Agriculture is deserving of recognition for
its celebration of National Agriculture Month, for throughout its
history, this fine organization has achieved a remarkable record of
service to the state. Established as the Ohio Board of Agriculture in
1846, ODA works to protect citizens by ensuring the safety of the
state’s food supply and the health of Ohio’s food animals and
plant life and to create economic opportunities for Ohio’s farmers,
food processors, and agribusinesses. It is one of the oldest
agriculture departments in the United States, and it is worthy of
applause; and

WHEREAS,
Agriculture is the backbone of our country, and farming is still the
top industry in the State of Ohio. National Agriculture Month is an
appropriate time to acknowledge the Ohio Department of Agriculture,
for it has served as an important resource to our state’s more than
74,500 farms, and its efforts have made a tremendous impact on our
economy; and

WHEREAS,
The Ohio Department of Agriculture has enhanced the quality of life
in our society, and its accomplishments are a justifiable source of
pride and a fine reflection not only on the agency itself but also on
its astute management and hard-working staff. ODA’s generous
contributions have earned it the gratitude and respect of the many
citizens it has so capably served, and we are certain that as this
worthy organization maintains its dedication to service, it will
continue in the tradition of excellence that has long been its
hallmark; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, commend the Ohio Department of
Agriculture during National Agriculture Month 2025 and urge all
citizens to participate in appropriate activities and projects; and
be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
