A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Laney Oliver on placing first at the 2025 Girls State Wrestling
Championship.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to commend Laney Oliver as the 2025 State Champion in girls
wrestling in the 190-pound weight class; and

WHEREAS,
A diligent and capable individual, Laney Oliver is deserving of
recognition for her exemplary accomplishments as a senior member of
the Findlay High School wrestling team, and during the 2024-2025
season she amassed a perfect 30-0 record. An exceptional athlete, she
defeated a tough opponent from Lakewood High School with a 14-0 major
decision to win this year’s state championship in the 190-pound
weight class, and her noteworthy record of personal achievement
stands as a hallmark for others; and

WHEREAS,
Through her participation in wrestling, Laney Oliver has learned
important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good
sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her
throughout her life. Under the leadership of Coach Ben Kirian, she
has inspired countless people to excel in various areas of endeavor,
and she has set an example worthy of emulation; and

WHEREAS,
In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and
nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of
individual effort, athletic competition has become a valuable
educational tool. With sports contributing to the development of
countless youth, we are happy to congratulate such a fine athlete as
Laney Oliver; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Laney Oliver on her 2025
State Championship and extend best wishes for continued success; and
be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Laney Oliver.
