A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Sydney Stevenson on securing a 2025 OATCCC Division II State Indoor
Track and Field Championship.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to commend Sydney Stevenson as the 2025 Ohio Association of
Track and Cross Country Coaches Division II Indoor State Champion in
the girls 800-meter run; and

WHEREAS,
Sydney Stevenson’s outstanding ability and spirited drive, as well
as her quickness and tenacity, have distinguished her as a superior
athlete and an exemplary member of the Dover High School track and
field team. At this year’s Division II State Indoor Meet, she
placed first in the 800‑meter event with a time of 2:15.29, and
she has gained the respect and admiration of all those who have
witnessed her in action; and

WHEREAS,
Few sports embody the spirit of individual accomplishment more than
running. Athletes such as Sydney Stevenson exemplify the qualities
necessary for excellence in any sport, including discipline, agility,
conditioning, and focus. Indeed, throughout long hours of practice
and competition, she has consistently demonstrated the talent and
motivation that are the hallmarks of a true competitor; and

WHEREAS,
Through her participation in sports, Sydney Stevenson has learned
lessons of perseverance, hard work, and fair and honest competition
that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to her throughout her
lifetime. Time and again, she has risen to the occasion, maintaining
her morale, composure, and good sportsmanship, and she has set a fine
example that is sure to inspire future generations of Tornadoes;
therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate Sydney Stevenson on
her outstanding performance at the Division II Indoor State
competition and offer best wishes for success as she continues her
career at The Ohio State University; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Sydney Stevenson.
