A R E S O L U T I O N

Honoring
Maddox Laymon as a 2025 Division II State Wrestling Champion.

WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to commend Maddox Laymon on winning the 2025 Division II
State Championship in boys wrestling in the 120-pound weight class;
and

WHEREAS,
A diligent and capable individual, Maddox Laymon is deserving of
recognition for his exemplary accomplishments as a standout member of
the Sheridan High School boys wrestling team. An exceptional athlete,
he defeated a reigning state champion from Bexley with a pin in the
third period to win first place in the 120-pound weight class at this
year’s Division II State Tournament, becoming the first freshman in
Muskingum Valley League history not only to go to the state
championship but also to win it, and his noteworthy record of
personal achievement stands as a testament to his dedication; and

WHEREAS,
Through his participation in wrestling, Maddox Laymon has learned the
important lessons of discipline, perseverance, hard work, and good
sportsmanship that will undoubtedly be of great benefit to him
throughout his life. Indeed, he has inspired countless people to
excel in various areas of endeavor, and his outstanding efforts serve
as an example worthy of emulation; and

WHEREAS,
In a society that seeks to teach the future leaders of our state and
nation the fundamentals of self-reliance and the rewards of
individual effort, athletic competition has become a valuable
educational tool. With sports contributing to the development of
countless youth, we are happy to congratulate such a fine wrestler as
Maddox Laymon; therefore be it

RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, applaud Maddox Laymon on his
Division II State Wrestling Championship and extend best wishes for
continued success; and be it further

RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to Maddox Laymon.
