A R E S O L U T I O N
Honoring
The University of Akron men’s basketball team on securing the 2025
Mid-American Conference Championship.
WHEREAS,
The members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of Ohio are
pleased to applaud The University of Akron men’s basketball team as
the 2025 Mid-American Conference Champion; and
WHEREAS,
The University of Akron men’s basketball team is made up of
remarkable athletes who have worked diligently to showcase the
collective talents of their exceptional squad. At this year’s
Mid-American Conference Tournament, the Zips came from behind to best
Miami University 76-74 to claim the MAC title and earn a spot in the
NCAA Tournament, and the members amply demonstrated impressive
determination, maturity, and finesse in pursuit of this achievement;
and
WHEREAS,
This triumph reflects the staunch resolve of these young individuals,
and it signifies the acquisition of valuable experience that is sure
to benefit them in later life. Thanks to the tireless efforts of the
exceptional University of Akron men’s basketball team coaching
staff, including Head Coach John Groce, as well as the support of
their school community, these athletes have met the demands of an
extensive training regimen, and they have just cause for celebration;
and
WHEREAS,
All those who comprise The University of Akron men’s basketball
team have set an excellent example of what a dedicated group of
athletes can achieve when guided by a committed coaching staff and
surrounded by loyal fans, sports families, and boosters. These young
competitors have certainly proven themselves to be dynamic athletic
leaders, and we are confident that as they meet future challenges,
they will take with them the valuable lessons they have gained
through their participation in basketball; therefore be it
RESOLVED,
That we, the members of the Senate of the 136th General Assembly of
Ohio, in adopting this Resolution, congratulate The University of
Akron men’s basketball team on its 2025 Mid‑American
Conference Championship title and count its players and coaches among
the ranks of outstanding citizens; and be it further
RESOLVED,
That the Clerk of the Senate transmit a duly authenticated copy of
this Resolution to The University of Akron men’s basketball team.
