HOUSE BILL 4123 By: Fetgatter

AS INTRODUCED

An Act relating to schools; prohibiting former
district employees from running for or serving on the
district board of education if they were terminated
for cause; clarifying applicability; and providing an
effective date.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 5-107.1 of Title 70, unless
there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
No person shall be eligible to be a candidate for or serve on a
board of education if the person was previously employed by the
school district governed by that board of education and was
terminated from their position for cause. Nothing in this section
shall be construed to prevent members of boards of education who are
serving on a board as of the effective date of this act from serving
the full term for which they were elected.

SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
