A Concurrent Resolution celebrating April 27, 2025,
as the 90th anniversary of the establishment of the
USDA Soil Conservation Service; and commending the
past and present employees of the Service for their
work.

WHEREAS, the Dust Bowl of the 1930s was the worst environmental
disaster of the 20th century in our nation, and it had a profound
impact on the people and the land of Oklahoma; and

WHEREAS, the Dust Bowl served as the catalyst for the nation and
for Oklahoma to commit to protecting our soil resources through a
soil conservation program; and

WHEREAS, the United States Department of Agriculture Soil
Conservation Service (now the Natural Resources Conservation
Service) was established on April 27, 1935, to assist farmers,
ranchers, and other landowners in protecting soil and water
resources on private lands; and

WHEREAS, the Natural Resources Conservation Service for the past
90 years has provided a vital public service by supplying technical
expertise and financial assistance to private landowners for the
conservation of soil and water resources; and

WHEREAS, the Natural Resources Conservation Service has
effectively partnered with Oklahoma's conservation districts and the
Oklahoma Conservation Commission to conserve and protect the state's
soil and water resources; and

WHEREAS, the work of the Natural Resources Conservation Service
has been a great benefit to the state and continues to be an
important resource for landowners who are working to be good
stewards of their land.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING THEREIN:

THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives and Oklahoma State
Senate do hereby celebrate April 27, 2025, as the 90th anniversary
of the establishment of the USDA Soil Conservation Service (now the
Natural Resources Conservation Service) and commends the past and
present employees of the Service for their work in conserving the
soil and water resources of our state.

2025.
