A Concurrent Resolution commending and congratulating
the United States of America's Olympic national
hockey teams for winning gold medals at the XXV
Winter Olympic Games.

WHEREAS, outstanding athletic achievements reflect great credit
upon our nation; and
WHEREAS, the Olympic Games are considered the world's preeminent
international sporting event; and
WHEREAS, the United States of America's men's and women's
national hockey teams each achieved victory against Canada; and
WHEREAS, both contests were decided in overtime by golden goal,
demonstrating exceptional skill, resolve, and competitive
excellence; and
WHEREAS, these victories further affirm the strength and
prominence of American hockey and establish the United States of
America as the preeminent world power in the sport; and

WHEREAS, the players, coaches, and support personnel of both
teams have distinguished themselves as exemplary representatives of
the United States of America and serve as an inspiration to athletes
throughout Oklahoma and the nation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
OF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING THEREIN:
THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives and the Oklahoma
State Senate commend and congratulate the United States of America's
men's and women's national hockey teams for their gold medal
victories and for the exemplary manner in which they represented the
United States of America at the XXV Winter Olympic Games.
THAT copies of this Resolution be transmitted and delivered to
the Secretary of State, USA Hockey, appropriate representatives of
the men's and women's national hockey teams, and to the United
States Olympic & Paralympic Committee.
