Green of the Senate

A Concurrent Resolution recognizing National Lineman
Appreciation Day; praising linemen from Oklahoma
electric providers; and celebrating their work to
power homes, businesses, and localities across the
state.

WHEREAS, Oklahoma linemen are the true heroes of the electric
power industry because they are responsible for maintaining and
repairing electrical power grids 24 hours a day, 365 days a year;
and
WHEREAS, these dedicated professionals are often the first to
respond during storms and other catastrophic weather events so other
first responders can get to the scene safely; and
WHEREAS, linemen operate under dangerous conditions, risking
their lives high atop power lines to keep electricity flowing; and
WHEREAS, linemen also play a vital role in Oklahoma's economy by
maintaining the energy infrastructure that powers homes, businesses,
and localities across the state; and

WHEREAS, linemen deserve recognition for their hard work to
power local communities and keep people safe during emergencies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
OF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE, THE SENATE
CONCURRING THEREIN:
THAT the Oklahoma Legislature recognizes April 21, 2026, as
National Lineman Appreciation Day.
THAT the Oklahoma Legislature extends its sincere gratitude to
linemen from Public Service Company of Oklahoma, Oklahoma Gas and
Electric Company, Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority, the Grand
River Dam Authority, local electric cooperatives, Liberty Utilities,
and all other electric providers for their dedicated service and
swift response to restore power during emergency situations.
THAT the Oklahoma Legislature commends local linemen for their
vital role in powering homes, businesses, and localities across the
state.
THAT the Oklahoma Legislature honors linemen for their critical
service in all types of weather, recognizing them as essential first
responders who risk their lives to ensure the safety and well-being
of all communities.
