RESOLUTION NO. 1024 By: May, Wilk, Kelley, Lay,
Stewart, Munson, and
Bennett

A Resolution recognizing May 4, 2025, as National
Firefighters' Day and recognizing the hard work and
dedication of firefighters across Oklahoma.

WHEREAS, National Firefighters' Day is observed annually on May
4 to honor the sacrifices and dedication of firefighters across the
nation, who risk their lives to protect communities and save lives
from the devastation of fire and other emergencies; and

WHEREAS, firefighters demonstrate unwavering courage,
selflessness, and resilience in the face of danger, exemplifying the
highest ideals of service to others and commitment to public safety;
and

WHEREAS, Fire Departments in Oklahoma play a vital role in
safeguarding the residents, visitors, and properties of Oklahoma
responding to emergencies with professionalism, skill, and
compassion; and

WHEREAS, the men and women who serve as firefighters continually
demonstrate their readiness to confront a myriad of challenges,
including fires, medical emergencies, natural disasters, and
hazardous incidents, with dedication, expertise, and valor; and

WHEREAS, the brave firefighters of Oklahoma embody the spirit of
service and sacrifice, standing as beacons of hope and guardians of
safety in times of need; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Oklahoma House of
Representatives recognize National Firefighters' Day and the
important and courageous work of the firefighters of Oklahoma.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
OF THE 1ST SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives declares May 4, 2025,
as National Firefighters' Day.

THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives further calls upon
all Oklahomans to join in expressing gratitude and appreciation to
the firefighters of Oklahoma and firefighters nationwide for their
selfless dedication and unwavering commitment to protecting lives
and property.

Adopted by the House of Representatives the 7th day of May,
2025.
