RESOLUTION NO. 1038 By: Newton, Crosswhite Hader
and Adams
A Resolution acknowledging the Oklahoma Youth Expo;
congratulating all of the 4-H and FFA student
participants of the 2026 Oklahoma Youth Expo;
congratulating the 2026 Oklahoma Youth Expo Ag
Mechanics and Engineering Contest champions.
WHEREAS, the Oklahoma Youth Expo's mission is to provide a venue
and program to display the finest quality market and breeding
livestock in the country that facilitates agricultural production
projects, and to fund higher education opportunities for hundreds of
youth pursuing studies in agriculture; and
WHEREAS, for nearly a century, the youth of the State of
Oklahoma have come to Oklahoma City to compete in the Oklahoma Youth
Expo; and
WHEREAS, the Oklahoma Youth Expo is open to all students from
across the state enrolled in 4-H or FFA. The participation and
economic impact of the local livestock show touches all 77 counties,
making a substantial positive impact on the fabric of rural
communities; and
WHEREAS, today, the Oklahoma Youth Expo is recognized as the
world's largest youth event and is held in the State of Oklahoma and
serves as a positive influence in the lives of approximately 7,500
Oklahoma youth; and
WHEREAS, the Oklahoma Youth Expo is also an agricultural
scholarship and leadership training program for Oklahoma youth and
serves as an extension of the classroom in a hands-on, real-world
environment through the Junior Livestock Program in Oklahoma; and

WHEREAS, since 2002, the Oklahoma Youth Expo has provided $2.3
million in scholarships to more than 1,000 Oklahoma students. The
scholarship program supports Oklahoma leaders' stated goal to
produce more college graduates as part of building a stronger
economy. Moreover, the scholarship program strives to address the
need for more college graduates to work in the agriculture industry,
one of the key economic drivers of Oklahoma's economy; and
WHEREAS, the Oklahoma Youth Expo has several ancillary programs
that provide leadership and learning for youth, such as the Oklahoma
Agricultural Leadership Encounter that provides elite leadership
opportunities for ten outstanding agriculture students at Oklahoma
State University. In this program, students visit agriculture
entities in every district of the state, tour the State Capitol,
visit Washington, D.C., and take an international tour to see the
agriculture industry in other countries;
WHEREAS, this year marks the 7th year of the Oklahoma Youth Expo
Ag Mechanics and Engineering Contest where students design, plan,
construct and market agricultural projects. The contest has grown
to over 300 projects statewide; and
WHEREAS, over the course of the ten-day event, the Oklahoma
Youth Expo has an impact of $24,000,000.00 on Oklahoma City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
OF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:
THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives hereby acknowledges
the Oklahoma Youth Expo for its contributions to our agricultural
communities and the State of Oklahoma and for its positive impact on
Oklahoma's youth and future leaders.
THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives congratulates all of
the 4-H and FFA student participants of the 2026 Oklahoma Youth
Expo.
THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives congratulates Ag
Mechanics and Engineering Contest Grand Champion Brody Bazor of the
Marietta FFA who constructed a firewood processor trailer and
Reserve Grand Champion's Barrett Grissom and Hunter Lehman of the
Strother FFA who constructed a hydraulic chute.
