RESOLUTION NO. 1044 By: Crosswhite Hader, Stark,
Stinson, and Manger

A Resolution raising awareness for organ donation;
recognizing the month of April 2026 as National
Donate Life Month.

WHEREAS, one of the most meaningful gifts that a human being can
bestow upon another is the gift of life. In the last 30 years,
Donate Life America and the Donate Life Community have registered
170 million organ, eye, and tissue donors in the United States; and

WHEREAS, over 100,000 men, women, and children are currently on
the national waiting list for organ transplantation; and

WHEREAS, every 8 minutes another person is added to the waiting
list; and

WHEREAS, 13 people die each day because the organs they need are
not donated in time; and

WHEREAS, more than 49,000 organ transplants from 23,788 donors
brought new life to patients and their families in 2025; and

WHEREAS, more than 2,200 children under the age of 18 are on the
national transplant waiting list; and

WHEREAS, more than 1,874 children were saved by the generosity
of donors and donor families in 2025; and

WHEREAS, LifeShare of Oklahoma, the nonprofit organ procurement
organization, is dedicated to the recovery of organs and tissue for

transplantation therapy in Oklahoma, with a mission to honor donors
and save lives through organ and tissue donation; and

WHEREAS, in 2003, the first National Donate Life Month campaign
was launched. National Donate Life Month takes place in April and
features an entire month of activities to encourage Americans to
register as organ, eye, and tissue donors and to honor those who
have saved lives through the gift of donation.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
OF THE 2ND SESSION OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

THAT the Oklahoma House of Representatives supports the
recognition of the month of April 2026 as National Donate Life Month
and encourages all residents to consider giving life through organ
donation and to register with Oklahoma’s organ and tissue donor
registry by visiting www.lifeshareoklahoma.org or when renewing
their driver license.

2026.
