An Act relating to consumer protection; defining
terms; prohibiting certain short-term rental platform
from selling certain products without disclosing
certain pricing; prohibiting certain requirement that
certain platform include certain sales taxes in
certain pricing; prohibiting certain disclosures;
limiting certain font size; prohibiting certain price
increase in certain situations; construing
provisions; subjecting certain violations to the
provisions of the Oklahoma Consumer Protection Act;
providing for codification; and providing an
effective date.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 774.2 of Title 15, unless there
is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
A. As used in this act:
1. “Renter” means an individual who is booking a short-term
rental through a short-term rental platform;
2. “Short-term rental” means any lease, license, or agreement
allowing occupancy of a residential property, or a portion of a

residential property, for less than thirty (30) consecutive days in
exchange for compensation; and
3. “Short-term rental platform” means any online marketplace,
website, application, digital service, or other similar platform
that advertises, lists, brokers, or facilitates bookings of short-
term rentals.
B. A short-term rental platform shall not:
1. Provide for booking for a short-term rental without
disclosing the total cost, including all ancillary fees that shall
be paid in order to book a short-term rental. All ancillary fees
shall be displayed to the renter the first time the price is
displayed to the renter and any subsequent time at which the price
is displayed;
2. Be required to include the amount of any sales tax required
to book a short-term rental any time a price is displayed pursuant
to this subsection if the short-term rental platform discloses the
amount of sales tax to the renter prior to completion of the
transaction;
3. Make a false or misleading disclosure to a renter of
subtotals, fees, charges, or any other component of the total price
of a booking of a short-term rental;
4. Present subtotals, fees, charges, or any other component of
the total price more prominently or in a font size that is larger
than the font size used to present the total price; and

5. Increase the total price after the first time a price is
displayed to the renter except when:
a. adding any applicable sales tax to the total price of
a booking of a short-term rental prior to the
completion of the transaction by the renter, or
b. the renter’s transaction period has timed out, and the
renter has not yet completed the transaction.
C. Any violation of this section shall constitute an unlawful
business practice and shall be subject to the provisions of the
Oklahoma Consumer Protection Act.
SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
