Roe of the House
An Act relating to public health; amending 63 O.S.
2021, Section 1-503, which relates to reports of
disease; updating statutory language and reference;
requiring addition of alpha-gal disease to list of
reportable conditions; making language gender
neutral; and providing an effective date.
SUBJECT: State Department of Health reports of disease
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. AMENDATORY 63 O.S. 2021, Section 1-503, is
amended to read as follows:
Section 1-503. (A) A. The State Board Commissioner of Health
shall promulgate rules and regulations establishing a system of
reporting of cases of diseases diagnosed or detected by practicing
physicians and/or health care providers or clinical laboratories
which come within the purview of this article the Oklahoma Public
Health Code. A reporting system established by the Board
Commissioner shall be applicable to penal and eleemosynary
institutions. Failure or refusal to report diseases as required by
the Board Commissioner shall constitute a misdemeanor.
(b) B. It shall be the duty of each local health officer to
report the existence of disease in his or her jurisdiction, as may
be required by rules and regulations of the State Board of Health.

C. The Commissioner shall add alpha-gal syndrome (AGS) to the
State Department of Health’s published list of reportable diseases
and conditions, the occurrence of which shall be reported to the
Department by a health care provider or clinical laboratory pursuant
to rules promulgated by the Commissioner.
SECTION 2. This act shall become effective November 1, 2026.
