<StartFT>An Act relating to the Oklahoma Firefighters
Pension and Retirement System; providing for benefits
increase subject to certain exception; defining term;
and providing for codification. <EndFT>
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA:
SECTION 1. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codified
in the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 49-143.8 of Title 11, unless
there is created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:
A. Except as provided in subsection B of this section, and
persons receiving benefits pursuant to Section 49-101 of Title 11 of
the Oklahoma Statutes, any member of the Oklahoma Firefighters
Pension and Retirement System receiving benefits from the System as
of June 30, 2025, who continues to receive benefits on or after the
effective date of this act shall receive a two percent (2%) increase
in benefits.
B. 1. For any member of the System who joined prior to January
1, 1981, who shall have his or her pension or the pension of his or

her surviving spouse increased or decreased by one-half (1/2) of all
increases or decreases which shall occur in the salary of a regular
firefighter in the municipality from which the member is receiving a
pension, any increase in benefits shall be used to offset the
increase provided in subsection A of this section.
2. For the purposes of this section, “regular firefighter”
means a salaried firefighter who has reached his or her maximum
salary as a private in his or her department and has not been
promoted to a position of rank.
C. Effective July 1, 2026, any persons receiving benefits
pursuant to Section 49-101 of Title 11 of the Oklahoma Statutes
shall receive an increase of two percent (2%) of the amount
prescribed in Section 49-143.7 of Title 11 of the Oklahoma Statutes.
