A Concurrent Resolution recognizing the OKC Spark
professional softball team and their contributions to
professional sports in Oklahoma; praising the OKC
Spark’s participation in the Athletes Unlimited
Softball League (AUSL); recognizing Oklahoma City’s
designation as host for softball during the 2028
Olympic Games; and directing distribution.

WHEREAS, the Oklahoma Legislature is proud to recognize the OKC
Spark professional softball team and founder and executive director
Tina Floyd for the team’s exceptional contributions to the landscape
of professional sports in the State of Oklahoma; and
WHEREAS, the Spark’s success is anchored by the leadership of
General Manager Kirk Walker and Head Coach Amber Flores, whose
expertise and dedication have built a culture of excellence that
resonates both on the field and throughout the community; and
WHEREAS, the team is further distinguished by the remarkable
talent of standout athletes like Kinzie Hansen and Sydney Sherrill,
whose collegiate legacies and professional achievements continue to
inspire young Oklahomans and elevate the caliber of the game; and

WHEREAS, the OKC Spark’s participation in the Athletes Unlimited
Softball League (AUSL) represents a bold new chapter for women’s
athletics, providing a professional framework that ensures the long-
term sustainability and growth of the sport; and
WHEREAS, the advancement of women’s professional sports is vital
to the growth and diversification of Oklahoma’s sports economy,
fostering innovation, job creation, and increased tourism within the
Oklahoma City metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, the international sporting community has recognized the
premier facilities and passionate culture of Oklahoma City,
designating it as the host for softball during the 2028 Olympic
Games; and
WHEREAS, the Olympic softball team will be led by Oklahoma’s own
Patty Gasso, whose historic leadership and championship pedigree
further solidify our state’s status as the global epicenter of the
sport; and
WHEREAS, the visionary leadership of Tina Floyd and the
collective brilliance of the Spark organization have been
instrumental in preparing Oklahoma to welcome the world stage,
ensuring that the legacy of softball continues to thrive and impact
our economy for years to come.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE 2ND SESSION
OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE, THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
CONCURRING THEREIN:

THAT the Oklahoma Legislature recognizes the OKC Spark for their
tremendous success, their contributions to the landscape of
professional sports in Oklahoma, their participation in AUSL, and
the advancement of women’s professional sports and its multiple
benefits to the state.
THAT the Oklahoma Legislature applauds Oklahoma City’s
designation as host for softball during the 2028 Olympic Games and
the role of Tina Floyd and the Spark organization in bringing the
sport and the State of Oklahoma national and international
attention.
THAT a copy of this concurrent resolution be distributed to the
OKC Spark and the AUSL.
