RESOLUTION NO. 43 By: Paxton

A Resolution memorializing the 31st anniversary of
the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building;
remembering the victims; honoring the survivors;
thanking the heroic first responders; and urging
continued healing.

WHEREAS, at 9:02 a.m. on April 19, 1995, Oklahoma City was
struck by the worst act of domestic terrorism in United States
history with the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building;
and

WHEREAS, one hundred sixty-eight people died, including nineteen
children. Additionally, three of the women killed were pregnant.
The dead also included three state employees and one first
responder. Hundreds more men, women, and children were injured; and

WHEREAS, on this anniversary, the Oklahoma State Senate
remembers the profound words engraved on the Oklahoma City National
Memorial’s Gates of Time: “We come here to remember those who were
killed, those who survived and those changed forever. May all who
leave here know the impact of violence. May this memorial offer
comfort, strength, peace, hope and serenity.”

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE 2ND SESSION
OF THE 60TH OKLAHOMA LEGISLATURE:

THAT the Oklahoma State Senate remembers those who were killed,
honors the survivors, thanks the heroic first responders, and urges
continued healing for all on this 31st anniversary.
