A BILL FOR AN ACT
Relating to a registered apprenticeship in teaching program; and prescribing an effective date.
Be It Enacted by the People of the State of Oregon:
SECTION 1.
In addition to and not in lieu of any other appropriation, there is appropri-
ated to the Department of Education for distribution to the Educator Advancement Council,
for the biennium beginning July 1, 2025, out of the General Fund, the amount of $2,000,000
to support the Oregon Registered Teaching Apprenticeship Program.
SECTION 2. (1) The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Oregon Regis-
tered Teaching Apprenticeship Program shall develop strategies for the Oregon Registered
Teaching Apprenticeship Program to:
(a) Ensure the long-term sustainability of the program.
(b) Expand statewide access for school districts and education service districts to the
program.
(c) Collaborate with education partners to reduce education costs for the program.
(d) Make the program more efficient by shortening the duration of the program for ap-
prentices.
(2) The committee shall submit a report of its strategies in the manner provided in ORS
192.245 to the interim committees of the Legislative Assembly related to education no later
than September 15, 2026.
SECTION 3.
This 2025 Act takes effect on the 91st day after the date on which the 2025
regular session of the Eighty-third Legislative Assembly adjourns sine die.
