A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of March 10 through 14, 2025, as "Civic
Learning Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, A well-informed and engaged citizenry are essential
to sustaining a healthy democracy; and
WHEREAS, After local observances in Massachusetts, Rhode
Island and New York in 2022, "Civic Learning Week" became a
national observance in 2023; and
WHEREAS, "Civic Learning Week" is observed across the nation
annually as a week designed to highlight the knowledge, skills
and dispositions that provide the foundation for an informed and
engaged citizenry, and to call for individual, local, state and
national action to prioritize civic education; and
WHEREAS, It is essential that each new generation is equipped
to engage in our democracy for our civic strength, our economy,
our national security and more; and
WHEREAS, Civic education is vital to the preservation and
improvement of the constitutional government of the United

States; and
WHEREAS, This year's "Civic Learning Week" theme, "Making
civic learning a nationwide priority for a stronger democracy,"
is a worthwhile goal for the people and learning institutions of
this Commonwealth; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of March 10 through 14, 2025, as "Civic Learning Week" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
vital role civic education plays in preparing the next
generation for democratic engagement.
