A RESOLUTION
Recognizing March 18, 2025, as "National Transit Worker
Appreciation Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Nearly 1 million Pennsylvanians throughout all 67
counties rely on some form of public transportation each day;
and
WHEREAS, Every year, Pennsylvania's public transit workers
such as bus and train operators, shared-ride drivers and
maintenance workers facilitate more than 237 million trips that
are crucial for connecting people in their communities to
employment and educational opportunities, medical appointments
and recreation; and
WHEREAS, More than 16,800 dedicated public transit employees
throughout this Commonwealth work tirelessly to ensure that our
public transit systems are safe, clean, reliable and operate
smoothly every single day regardless of weather conditions; and
WHEREAS, Through their contributions in providing
transportation options to Pennsylvanians, public transit workers
support economic growth and prosperity in this Commonwealth,

access to opportunities and community connectivity and the
improved physical and mental well-being of their customers; and
WHEREAS, In recent years, modes of public transit have been
experiencing increasingly dangerous incidents of violence and
other disruptions that put public transit employees at risk; and
WHEREAS, "National Transit Worker Appreciation Day" not only
demonstrates the importance of acknowledging the essential
services that public transit employees deliver every day, it
also raises awareness about the need for investing in public
transportation infrastructure and supporting the workforce
behind it; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize March
18, 2025, as "National Transit Worker Appreciation Day" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage all
riders and residents across this Commonwealth to join us in
offering sincere thanks to public transit workers for keeping
Pennsylvania moving.
