A RESOLUTION
Designating February 14, 2025, as "Parkland School Shooting
Victims Remembrance Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, On February 14, 2018, 17 innocent lives were lost in
a massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland,
Florida; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania and the United States will always
remember the lives tragically lost in assaults on our schools;
and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth will never forget the heroes who
risk and sacrifice their lives to protect the students,
teachers, faculty and families of the communities in our great
Commonwealth, and throughout our great nation, and who
courageously safeguard the lives of their students; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth will never forget the first
responders and law enforcement officers who respond to the call
every day to protect the innocent and who continue to respond

each and every day; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has made many efforts in recent
decades to prevent and respond to potential acts of violence in
our schools through the creation of the Safe2Say Something
program, the transfer of millions of dollars in State
investments to support school safety and mental health and the
establishment of the Office for Safe Schools within the
Department of Education, among other measures; and
WHEREAS, February 14, 2025, marks seven years since the
horrific attack on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate
February 14, 2025, as "Parkland School Shooting Victims
Remembrance Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the
memories of the victims of the attack at Marjory Stoneman
Douglas High School on February 14, 2018, and offer heartfelt
condolences and deepest sympathies to all families, loved ones
and friends of victims affected by this and all other senseless
acts of violence in our nation's schools; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives remain dedicated
to preventing such atrocities from reoccurring through increased
school safety measures and student mental health initiatives.
