A RESOLUTION
Designating May 5, 2025, as "Youth Advocacy Day" in
Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Youth advocacy involves the participation of young
people and children in movements, causes and initiatives that
affect their lives and communities; and
WHEREAS, Advocacy can involve action both large and small,
from strikes and protests to community engagement and sharing
personal experiences; and
WHEREAS, The United States has a long history of youth-led
advocacy movements, dating back to the early 19th century; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the 20th century, youth-led groups were
at the forefront of movements across the United States for
peace, racial equality, free speech and other important issues;
and
WHEREAS, In the 21st century, youths have been leaders in
movements centered around the environment, democracy and civic
engagement and participation, violence prevention, social

justice and public safety; and
WHEREAS, Today more than ever, young people are becoming
increasingly involved in advocacy; and
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives recognizes the right of
young people to advocate for the issues that matter to them and
to make their voices heard; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 5,
2025, as "Youth Advocacy Day" in Pennsylvania.
