A RESOLUTION
Designating September 21, 2025, as "Sun Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Solar and wind energy, and the batteries to store
their power when the wind drops or the sun goes down, are the
fastest growing sources of energy in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Renewable energy sources improve air quality in this
Commonwealth, protect the health of residents in this
Commonwealth, reduce the carbon footprint of this Commonwealth
and combat climate change; and
WHEREAS, Renewable energy decreases dependence on fossil
fuels and the negative impacts of greenhouse gas emissions,
which creates positive lasting effects on the environment and
human health; and
WHEREAS, Embracing renewable energy also promises economic
benefits, as wind and solar are now the cheapest ways to produce
power; and
WHEREAS, Jobs in this industry throughout this Commonwealth
grew 1.5 times faster than the overall economy in this

Commonwealth in recent years, with continued growth expected;
and
WHEREAS, Harnessing the power of renewable energy also grants
the United States and Pennsylvania energy independence,
providing stable, secure and clean energy to people free from
the market volatility of imported energy sources; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania played a crucial role in shaping
America's energy history as the home of the nation's first oil
well; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania now has the opportunity to lead the
country by embracing renewable energy, a technology with deep
roots in American innovation; and
WHEREAS, America is the birthplace of solar energy, having
seen the invention of the solar cell in 1954 at Bell Labs, and
is the birthplace of utility-scale wind, with the 1940s wind
turbine on Grandpa's Knob, Vermont; and
WHEREAS, Solar and wind are proving to be key components of a
reliable grid, especially in times of high demand and other
stress on utilities; and
WHEREAS, "Sun Day" is a day of action in celebration of the
power of clean energy and is being recognized this year on
September 21; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate
September 21, 2025, as "Sun Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage the
residents of this Commonwealth to engage in actions on September
21, 2025, designed to highlight the fact that solar and wind are
no longer "alternative energy" sources but rather an obvious,
common-sense choice for clean, renewable energy; and be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage and
speed the approval of residential solar and wind projects; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge PJM
Interconnection to address the clogged interconnection queue
that in many instances slows utility-scale projects.
