A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of November 2025 as "Care at Home Month"
in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Home care and hospice professionals provide critical
services to individuals with disabilities and this
Commonwealth's aging population, allowing them to remain in
their homes and stay connected with their communities; and
WHEREAS, Home care aides and direct care workers offer
essential support with daily living activities, such as managing
medications, meal preparation, assisting with mobility, bathing,
dressing, light housekeeping and transportation to medical
appointments; and
WHEREAS, Hospice care integrates medical care, pain
management and emotional and spiritual support, offering
compassionate end-of-life and palliative care to terminally ill
patients and their families; and
WHEREAS, Home health services provide skilled care, including

nursing services and physical, occupational, speech and
respiratory therapies; and
WHEREAS, Home care, home health and hospice professionals
collaborate closely with families, offering guidance and
training in caregiving techniques and providing needed respite
for family caregivers and natural supports; and
WHEREAS, These professionals represent more than 375,000 jobs
in this Commonwealth at any given time with a growing demand
that may require an additional 115,000 or more workers by 2030;
and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth's aging population is growing
rapidly, with a projected one in three Pennsylvanians being over
60 years of age by 2030; and
WHEREAS, More than 500,000 Pennsylvanians of all ages receive
home-based care in any given month; and
WHEREAS, Individuals of all ages who are aging or physically
or intellectually disabled deserve to live independent and full
lives in the setting of their choice; and
WHEREAS, There is only one worker for every eight people who
want and need to have care inside their own homes; therefore be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
month of November 2025 as "Care at Home Month" to honor and
express gratitude for the dedication and contributions of these
professionals in improving the lives of their patients.
