A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of January 2026 as "School Director
Recognition Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania recognizes the
public service of the 4,500 locally elected school directors who
carry out voluntary public service to advance student
achievement and well-being in the school districts and
communities they serve; and
WHEREAS, School directors are responsible for providing
leadership that ensures a clear, shared vision of public
education for their schools, sets high standards for the
education of all students and requires the effective and
efficient operation of their school districts; and
WHEREAS, The work of school directors is complex and diverse
as they establish local policies, approve educational programs,
provide necessary physical facilities, hire qualified employees
and share along with the Commonwealth the burden of being fiscal

stewards of taxpayer dollars to operate district educational
programs with transparency and accountability; and
WHEREAS, School directors are steadfast advocates for public
education and are responsible for communicating the needs of the
school district and students with Federal, State and local
leaders; and
WHEREAS, School board service is an honor which carries
significant responsibility to students, parents, district staff,
fellow board members and the larger community; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
month of January 2026 as "School Director Recognition Month" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.
