A RESOLUTION
Designating the month of November 2025 as "Indiana University of
Pennsylvania Appreciation Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) was founded
in 1875 as Indiana Normal School; and
WHEREAS, The institution was later purchased by the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1927, becoming Indiana State
Teachers College; and
WHEREAS, The institution was subsequently renamed Indiana
State College in 1959; and
WHEREAS, The act of December 16, 1965 (P.L.1113, No.430),
known as the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Act,
redesignated the institution as a university; and
WHEREAS, IUP is now a thriving institution and part of the
Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education; and
WHEREAS, IUP is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2025;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the

Appreciation Month" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend its
congratulations to IUP on achieving 150 years of academic
excellence and service to our Commonwealth and its students.
