A RESOLUTION
Designating April 29, 2026, as "Professional Pest Management
Appreciation Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Effective pest management in homes, businesses and
public places throughout this Commonwealth is an important
factor in maintaining the health and well-being of all
Pennsylvanians; and
WHEREAS, Pest management professionals help protect this
Commonwealth's food supply, homes and the environment from
disease and pest-related illnesses by practicing environmentally
friendly pest control methods; and
WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Pest Management Association
provides training, networking and leadership opportunities for
Pennsylvania's pest management professionals and is recognized
for its efforts to protect our environment as well as to ensure
the safe and effective use of pest management materials; and
WHEREAS, The National Pest Management Association is
committed to educating the public about the dangers posed by
pests and the damage they can cause; and

WHEREAS, In April 1975, President Gerald Ford first declared
April as "Pest Control Month"; and
WHEREAS, "Professional Pest Management Appreciation Day"
offers residents of this Commonwealth an opportunity to
understand and appreciate the important role that pest
management providers play in ensuring the welfare of residents;
and
WHEREAS, April marks the beginning of spring in many parts of
the United States, which means the emergence of pests such as
mosquitoes, ticks, flies, ants and rodents that have been
dormant during the winter; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate April
29, 2026, as "Professional Pest Management Appreciation Day" in
Pennsylvania.
