A RESOLUTION
Urging the Congress of the United States to enact legislation
designating the Green Star Service Banner as a national
emblem honoring families of members of the United States
Armed Forces and veterans who died by suicide.
WHEREAS, Families of members of the United States Armed
Forces and veterans who died by suicide bear a distinct and
enduring burden of grief and service; and
WHEREAS, For too long, this loss has been referenced as a
statistic rather than acknowledged by name and symbol; and
WHEREAS, The Green Star Service Banner is intended as a
voluntary, symbolic emblem to honor and recognize the surviving
families of members of the United States Armed Forces and
veterans who died by suicide; and
WHEREAS, The House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania recognizes and honors Green Star Families within
Pennsylvania; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania urge the Congress of the United
States to enact legislation designating the Green Star Service
Banner as a national emblem honoring families of members of the
United States Armed Forces and veterans who died by suicide; and
be it further
RESOLVED, That agencies of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
and political subdivisions permit the voluntary display of the
Green Star Service Banner in appropriate venues and on
appropriate observances, consistent with applicable policies;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to
the Governor, the Adjutant General of Pennsylvania, the
Secretary of Military and Veterans Affairs of Pennsylvania, the
presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each member
of Congress from Pennsylvania.
