A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of May 3 through 9, 2026, as "National
Travel and Tourism Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The week of May 3 through 9, 2026, has been selected
as "National Travel and Tourism Week" by the U.S. Travel
Association; and
WHEREAS, "National Travel and Tourism Week" was first
established in 1983, when the United States Congress passed a
joint resolution designating a week in May 1984 to honor the
importance of travel and tourism; and
WHEREAS, The 2026 theme, "Postmarked: Essential," emphasizes
that travel is fundamental to the nation's economy, workforce
and way of life, with each visitor experience contributing to
local growth, opportunity and cultural connection; and
WHEREAS, Tourism remains a cornerstone of this Commonwealth's
economy, generating approximately $83.9 billion in total
economic impact in 2024 and demonstrating continued growth
across Pennsylvania's regions; and

WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's travel and tourism industry supports
more than 514,000 jobs, representing approximately 1 in every 16
jobs in this Commonwealth, and sustains families, small
businesses and local economies; and
WHEREAS, In 2024, Pennsylvania welcomed more than 201.6
million visitors, whose spending exceeded $49.9 billion and
generated approximately $5 billion in State and local tax
revenue, helping to fund critical public services and
infrastructure; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth's diverse attractions, including
historic landmarks, outdoor recreation, cultural institutions,
major sporting events and vibrant local communities, continue to
draw visitors from across the nation and around the world; and
WHEREAS, As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th
anniversary in 2026, Pennsylvania, home to the signing of the
Declaration of Independence, will play a central role in
commemorating this historic milestone and welcoming visitors to
experience its rich heritage; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize May 3
through 9, 2026, as "National Travel and Tourism Week" in
Pennsylvania.
