A RESOLUTION
Designating June 1, 2026, as "Links Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated was founded in 1946 by Sara
Strickland Scott and Margaret Hawkins in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated has evolved into one of the
nation's largest volunteer service organizations, with more than
17,000 members of African descent across 299 Chapters located in
41 states, the District of Columbia and the Bahamas, including
Pennsylvania's Bucks County Chapter, Delaware Valley Chapter,
Harrisburg Chapter, Montgomery County Chapter, Penn Towne
Chapter, Philadelphia Chapter and Pittsburgh Chapter; and
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated members are extraordinary
women who are committed to the cultural and economic advancement
of African Americans and persons of African ancestry; and
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated's core values are
friendship, integrity, honesty, service, commitment, family
relationships, courage, respect for self and others, legacy,
confidentiality, responsibility and accountability; and

WHEREAS, Links members contribute more than 950,000
documented hours of community service annually, strengthening
their communities and enhancing the nation; and
WHEREAS, The Links, Incorporated is the recipient of awards
from the UN Association of New York and the Leon H. Sullivan
Foundation for its premier programs; and
WHEREAS, The outstanding programming of The Links,
Incorporated has five facets which include services to youth,
the arts, national trends and services, international trends and
services and health and human services; and
WHEREAS, The programs are implemented through strategies such
as public information and education, economic development and
public policy campaigns; and
WHEREAS, The members of The Links, Incorporated serve as
influential leaders and role models, shaping their communities
through advocacy, mentorship and collaboration; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate June 1,
2026, as "Links Day" in Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and
honor the members of The Links, Incorporated's Bucks County
Chapter, Delaware Valley Chapter, Harrisburg Chapter, Montgomery
County Chapter, Penn Towne Chapter, Philadelphia Chapter and
Pittsburgh Chapter for their outstanding contributions to this
Commonwealth; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
The Links, Incorporated as a token of appreciation from the
members of the House of Representatives.
