A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of September 2026 as "Baby Safety Month"
in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Children deserve safe living environments where they
can play, learn and grow; and
WHEREAS, Making decisions about food, living environment,
toys and other hazards can be an overwhelming process for
parents; and
WHEREAS, When parents are empowered with clear information
and knowledge about how to protect their baby, they can make
informed choices; and
WHEREAS, Many changes to promote the safety of a baby require
minimal effort to eliminate hazards; and
WHEREAS, Using a crib, bassinet or cradle that has been
properly assembled according to instructions is an important way
to make sure that a baby sleeps in a safe environment and is the
foundation of good infant sleep practices; and
WHEREAS, Parents should pay close attention to the age

ratings for products so that they can choose items that meet
their children's developmental needs; and
WHEREAS, No matter the products employed, supervision from an
adult is essential to making sure that a child is safe; and
WHEREAS, Bringing attention to the ways parents across this
Commonwealth can keep their babies safe could help prevent
tragedy; and
WHEREAS, In 1983, the Juvenile Products Manufacturers
Association began an annual awareness campaign related to child
health, beginning with Expectant Mother's Day in 1983; and
WHEREAS, The organization is now called the Baby Safety
Alliance, and beginning in 1991, September has been designated
as "Baby Safety Month"; and
WHEREAS, "Baby Safety Month" offers us the opportunity to
bring attention to ways that parents can protect the safety of
their children; and
WHEREAS, Every child deserves a safe, healthy and vibrant
childhood; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
month of September 2026 as "Baby Safety Month" in Pennsylvania;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives encourage all
parents to take action to protect babies from hazards.
