A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of May 4 through 10, 2025, as "Career and
Technology Week" and recognizing May 7, 2025, as "National
Skilled Trades Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Career and technical education provides students
with academic knowledge, technical skills and hands-on training
in a wide range of fields, including health care, information
technology, manufacturing, construction and public services,
preparing them for both college and career pathways; and
WHEREAS, Skilled trades and technical fields play a critical
role in driving economic growth, meeting workforce demands and
improving the quality of life for communities across
Pennsylvania; and
WHEREAS, There are more than 80 career and technical
education centers across Pennsylvania that offer approved
programs to thousands of students, providing those students with
the necessary skills and training to succeed in high-demand
occupations; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania, like much of the nation, is

experiencing a shortage of skilled workers in essential
industries, including manufacturing, construction, health care,
information technology and transportation, making investment in
career and technical education programs critical to sustaining
and growing this Commonwealth's economy; and
WHEREAS, "National Skilled Trades Day" is observed annually
on the first Wednesday in May to honor the contributions of
skilled trades professionals and to raise awareness about the
value of skilled trades careers; and
WHEREAS, Aligning "Career and Technology Week" with "National
Skilled Trades Day" creates a unified Statewide celebration of
career and technical education, highlighting the contributions
of educators, students and professionals who advance technical
and skilled trades fields; and
WHEREAS, Recognizing the importance of career and technical
education and skilled trades at a Statewide level encourages
students to explore diverse pathways, bridges the gap between
education and industry and provides valuable opportunities for
personal and professional growth; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of May 4 through 10, 2025, as "Career and Technology Week"
and recognize May 7, 2025, as "National Skilled Trades Day" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
vital contributions of career and technical education and
skilled trades professionals to Pennsylvania's economy and
workforce.
