A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of May 4 through 10, 2025, as "Jewish Day
Schools Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is home to 34 Jewish day schools, and
enrollment in Jewish day schools in Pennsylvania is at an all-
time high; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is home to more than 440,000 people of
Jewish faith or ancestry who have strengthened the fabric of
this Commonwealth and whose community schools help to continue
passing on the culture, religion and language to the future
generations of Jewish Pennsylvanians; and
WHEREAS, Jewish education plays a unique role in the
continued vitality of the American Jewish community, providing a
sense of Jewish pride and an immersive and content-rich Jewish
environment that has impacted generations of Jewish learners and
leaders; and
WHEREAS, Jewish day schools, like Jewish houses of worship
and other Jewish institutions, have increasingly been the target

of antisemitic attacks and threats of violence; and
WHEREAS, In the face of antisemitism, many Jewish families
value Jewish day schools for offering a supportive community
where children are nurtured, an environment that promotes Jewish
values and a quality education; and
WHEREAS, Jewish day schools provide a conduit for outreach to
the worldwide Jewish community, promote foreign exchange
educational opportunities for members of those overseas
communities to study in Pennsylvania and provide a connection to
Jewish congregations abroad; and
WHEREAS, Jewish day schools expand opportunities in
Pennsylvania and local communities for bilingual education and
intercultural exchange; and
WHEREAS, Jewish day schools have taught many individuals who
have contributed to the culture of the world, this country and
this Commonwealth, including Seth Rogen, Natalie Portman, Jake
Tapper and Ralph Lauren; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of May 4 through
10, 2025, as "Jewish Day Schools Week" in Pennsylvania; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That the Senate express appreciation and gratitude
to Jewish day schools across this Commonwealth.
