A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine
Corps and honoring the generations of Marines whose service
and sacrifice have strengthened the Commonwealth and the
Nation.
WHEREAS, November 10, 2025, marks the 250th anniversary of
the United States Marine Corps; and
WHEREAS, The United States Marine Corps was established on
November 10, 1775, at Tun Tavern in Philadelphia; and
WHEREAS, Since its founding, the United States Marine Corps
has earned a distinguished reputation as one of the world's
premier naval infantry forces, its legacy built upon an
unwavering fighting spirit and adherence to the highest
standards of excellence; and
WHEREAS, This historic milestone stands as a testament to the
Corps' skill in battle, distinguished leadership, extraordinary
courage and selfless sacrifice in every major American conflict
from the Revolution to the Global War on Terrorism, including

service in the historic engagements of Princeton, Derna,
Chapultepec, First Bull Run, Belleau Wood, Guadalcanal, Tarawa,
Peleliu, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, the Chosin Reservoir, Khe Sanh, Hue,
the liberation of Kuwait, Nasiriyah and Fallujah; and
WHEREAS, The United States Marine Corps exemplifies the
enduring values of honor, courage and commitment, inspiring
generations of Americans to serve and safeguard their country;
and
WHEREAS, The United States Marine Corps has earned a lasting
legacy of readiness and steadfast devotion to duty in both war
and peace; and
WHEREAS, Marines take great pride in upholding the Corps'
motto, Semper Fidelis, which means "always faithful" and
reflects their loyalty to country, Corps and fellow Marines; and
WHEREAS, The United States Marine Corps has continually
demonstrated its ability to adapt to emerging threats and to
meet the nation's security needs from its founding to the
present day; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the 250th anniversary of
the United States Marine Corps and honor the generations of
Marines whose service and sacrifice have strengthened the
Commonwealth and the Nation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Senate invite the people of Pennsylvania
to join in celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United
States Marine Corps by participating in commemorative events
across the Commonwealth, honoring stories of Marine Corps valor
and accomplishment and paying tribute to all who have earned the
title of United States Marine over the past 250 years.
