A RESOLUTION
Honoring and expressing unwavering support from the Senate of
Pennsylvania to the soldiers, airmen, marines and sailors of
the United States Armed Forces serving in Operation Epic Fury
and recognizing their courage, sacrifice and devotion to the
defense of liberty.
WHEREAS, The men and women of the United States Armed Forces
continue to stand as the shield of freedom, protecting our
nation and its allies from tyranny, aggression and terror across
the globe; and
WHEREAS, In the course of Operation Epic Fury, American
soldiers, airmen, marines, sailors and guardians once again
demonstrate the highest traditions of service, duty and courage
that have defined the United States military since the founding
of our Republic; and
WHEREAS, These brave Americans serve far from home, often in
dangerous and uncertain conditions, carrying the heavy
responsibility of defending the security of the United States
and safeguarding the cause of liberty for future generations;

WHEREAS, The Islamic regime ruling the nation of Iran has,
for more than four decades, pursued a campaign of hostility
against the United States and its allies, waging a proxy war
through terrorism, militias and armed groups across the Middle
East; and
WHEREAS, This campaign of aggression has included the tragic
bombing of the United States Marine barracks in Beirut, Lebanon,
on October 23, 1983, an act of terrorism that claimed the lives
of 241 American service members, including 220 United States
Marines, in one of the deadliest attacks against American forces
since World War II; and
WHEREAS, Over the decades that followed, the Iranian regime
has continued to support and arm militant organizations and
terrorist networks across the region, contributing to
instability and violence and providing weapons and support that
have endangered American troops serving in Iraq, Afghanistan and
beyond; and
WHEREAS, Despite these threats, the men and women of the
United States Armed Forces have stood firm, meeting danger with
courage, uncertainty with resolve and hostility with the steady
determination that has long defined American service members;
and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has a proud and enduring tradition of
military service, with generations of Pennsylvanians answering
the call to defend freedom in every major conflict since the
founding of our nation; and
WHEREAS, Today, many sons and daughters of Pennsylvania serve
honorably in the ranks of the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air
Force and Space Force, continuing that proud tradition of

service and sacrifice; and
WHEREAS, The courage displayed by these service members
reminds us that the defense of liberty is never automatic, that
it depends upon citizens willing to stand watch, face danger and
carry forward the torch of freedom for those who follow;
therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
honor and commend the soldiers, airmen, marines, sailors and
guardians of the United States Armed Forces serving in Operation
Epic Fury for their bravery, professionalism and steadfast
devotion to duty; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
express its deepest gratitude to these service members and their
families, who bear the burden of service with quiet strength and
sacrifice; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
reaffirm its unwavering support for the men and women of the
United States Armed Forces as they defend the cause of liberty
against tyranny and aggression wherever it threatens the
security of our nation; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
the United States Secretary of War and to each member of
Congress from Pennsylvania.
