A RESOLUTION
Designating September 25, 2026, as "Disabled American Veterans
Day" in Pennsylvania in recognition of the men and women who
have borne the wounds of war, and the unwavering advocacy and
support of the Disabled American Veterans.
WHEREAS, Founded in 1920 and chartered by Congress in 1932,
the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to delivering comprehensive services on behalf of our
nation's veterans with disabilities and their families, ensuring
the fulfillment of basic promises; and
WHEREAS, September 25, 1920, is considered to be the birth
date of the DAV; and
WHEREAS, The DAV assists with United States Department of
Veterans Affairs (VA) claims and appeals, ensuring access to
earned benefits; and
WHEREAS, The DAV Transportation Network offers critical no-
cost rides to VA medical appointments, ensuring access to health
care; and
WHEREAS, DAV employment and volunteer programs and outreach

events foster engagement in rural and metropolitan areas alike,
ensuring access to local resources and partnerships; and
WHEREAS, DAV volunteers and service officers exemplify the
commitment to leaving no veteran behind; and
WHEREAS, Their life-changing support reaches more than 1
million veterans nationwide each year; and
WHEREAS, Veterans with disabilities who reside in this
Commonwealth have made profound sacrifices in service to our
nation; and
WHEREAS, "Disabled American Veterans Day" honors them, raises
public awareness of their challenges and highlights the DAV's
impact; and
WHEREAS, "Disabled American Veterans Day" permits us to
reflect on the contributions, hardships and sacrifices of
veterans with disabilities; and
WHEREAS, "Disabled American Veterans Day" permits us to renew
our commitment to the critical support we owe them; therefore be
it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate September 25, 2026, as
"Disabled American Veterans Day" in Pennsylvania in recognition
of the men and women who have borne the wounds of war, and the
unwavering advocacy and support of the Disabled American
Veterans.
