CONGRATULATING COLONEL MICHAEL LIMA ON BEING NAMED THE NEW
WARWICK POLICE DEPARTMENT CHIEF OF POLICE

WHEREAS, Colonel Michael Lima, newly selected as the 15th Police Chief of Warwick,
2
has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a law enforcement officer and dedicated public
3
servant. He is the beloved husband to his wife, Melissa and a proud father to their two sons; and
4
WHEREAS, Michael Lima earned a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University
5
of New Hampshire. He began his exemplary public service career serving as a police officer for
6
five years in Somersworth, New Hampshire, before transferring to the Warwick Police
7
Department; and
8
WHEREAS, During his 21 years of outstanding service as a Warwick Police Officer,
9
Michael Lima immediately impressed his peers and colleagues with his tireless work ethic,
10
commendable leadership qualities, and abiding integrity. As a result, he steadily rose through the
11
ranks culminating in his recent selection to be the new Police Chief of the City of Warwick; and
12
WHEREAS, Chief Lima has expressed his intention to place increased emphasis on
13
community engagement by building stronger relationships with the public and community leaders
14
to foster greater trust throughout the city. Chief Lima believes that officers should be engaged
15
with the community at all times, not just in moments of crisis. Chief Lima is also committed to
16
improving the department’s health and wellness programs, particularly by providing and
17
normalizing mental health services and resources; now, therefore be it
18
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby
19
congratulates Colonel Michael Lima on being named the new Police Chief of the City of

Warwick; and be it further
2
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
3
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the City of Warwick Police Chief, Michael
4
Lima.
