H7401 2026 -- H 7401 ======== LC004262 ======== STATE OF RHODE ISLAND IN GENERAL ASSEMBLY JANUARY SESSION, A.D. 2026 ____________ J O I N T R E S O L U T I O N MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $75,000 FOR THE JEWISH COLLABORATIVE SERVICES Introduced By: Representatives Bennett, Edwards, Boylan, Potter, Newberry, Hopkins, Paplauskas, Quattrocchi, Kazarian, and Kislak Date Introduced: January 28, 2026 Referred To: House Finance 1 WHEREAS, Jewish Collaborative Services (JCS) is a nonprofit community service 2 agency providing resources and supports to Rhode Island households in need; and 3 WHEREAS, JCS was formed in 2018 as a merger of Jewish Family Services (est. 1929) 4 and Jewish Seniors Agency (est.1887), becoming an integrated social service and housing agency 5 providing critical programs and services that address food insecurity, housing instability, and 6 access to essential resources for underserved communities; and 7 WHEREAS, The mission of JCS is to provide a continuum of support services, guided by 8 Jewish values, that strengthen the well-being of our community members; and 9 WHEREAS, JCS manages a full spectrum of services and programs addressing the most 10 pressing challenges at-risk individuals face, related to health, social isolation, housing, nutritional, 11 or emotional well-being; and 12 WHEREAS, JCS services center the Jewish community while also being inclusive and 13 open to all Rhode Islanders in need. Programs extend beyond the Jewish community to support 14 anyone facing hardship, with a particular focus on populations often underrepresented or 15 overlooked, like seniors, low-income households, immigrants, and people with disabilities; and 16 WHEREAS, JCS provides culturally competent resources unavailable anywhere else in 17 Rhode Island, including the State’s only kosher pantry, senior congregate kosher meal site, and 18 Kosher Meals on Wheels; and 19 WHEREAS, The organization receives funding from foundations, grants and individual 1 contributions; now, therefore be it 2 RESOLVED, That there is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the treasury not 3 otherwise appropriated for the fiscal year 2026-2027, the sum of seventy-five thousand dollars 4 ($75,000) to Jewish Collaborative Services to sustain, nurture, and strengthen the well-being of 5 seniors, adults, children, and families throughout Rhode Island; and the state controller is hereby 6 authorized and directed to draw their orders upon the general treasurer for the payment of said 7 sum, or so much thereof as may be from time to time required, upon receipt of properly 8 authenticated vouchers. ======== LC004262 ======== LC004262 - Page 2 of 3 EXPLANATION BY THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL OF J O I N T R E S O L U T I O N MAKING AN APPROPRIATION OF $75,000 FOR THE JEWISH COLLABORATIVE SERVICES *** 1 This resolution would appropriate the sum of $75,000 to Jewish Collaborative Services. ======== LC004262 ======== LC004262 - Page 3 of 3
