WHEREAS, United Way 211 is a free and confidential service available 24 hours a day,

365 days a year, connecting Rhode Islanders to essential health and human services, including
3
housing assistance, food access, mental health resources, and disaster response; and
4
WHEREAS, Since 2007, United Way of Rhode Island has operated and maintained 211,
5
providing vital support to individuals and families in need, ensuring access to services in nearly
6
200 languages and dialects; and
7
WHEREAS, United Way 211 has served as a critical communication and response
8
system during public emergencies, natural disasters, and public health crises, ensuring Rhode
9
Islanders receive timely and accurate information; and
10
WHEREAS, United Way of Rhode Island has handled nearly 100,000 needs in the State
11
in 2025, including referrals handled through 211 and the Aging Disability Resource Center; and
12
WHEREAS, The data and insights collected through 211 services help inform policy
13
decisions and resource allocation, allowing state and local leaders to better serve their
14
communities; and
15
WHEREAS, Recognizing February 10th as "211 Day" honors the vital contributions of
16
United Way 211 and the many community organizations that collaborate to improve the well-
17
being of Rhode Islanders; now, therefore be it
18
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island hereby
19
proclaims February 10, 2026, as "211 Day" in Rhode Island, recognizing the significant

contributions of United Way 211 and its partners in serving the people of our State; and be it
2
further
3
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to
4
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the United Way of Rhode Island and other
5
relevant community partners.
